We live in one of the best times in history, and yet satisfaction is declining.
Over consumption leaves the planet toxic & depleted, more government means more taxes, fees and fines, creating financial insecurity. Tech is now a tyrant not a tool. The result: less happiness; poorer health; less prosperity.
We are suffocating under noise, clutter, and compulsive status consumption, but true fulfilment comes from stripping back the excess - choosing substance over show, clarity over chaos, and living with more simplicity, authenticity (meaning) and purpose.
Accepting that government is the problem not the solution and by recognising how they have divided us in plain sight, we can see that we must unite and act together to reclaim our democratic rights and freedoms.
Today corporations are so big they control nearly every aspect of life, dictating what we can see, do, say, buy, think and earn. They are Governments' paymasters which shapes lawmaking in their favour.
However, you can use selective buying; organised boycotts, 'buycotts'; to bring them to heel. Recent examples include Budweiser, Disney and Tesla.
There are a variety of solutions, but the core one is purchase power (how we spend our money), sometimes called Collective Consumerism. Combined with the reach of social media, which can be used to unite us, this can help restore control. Further, when required, we can employ Coordinated Community Action (CCA), and, where necessary, use legal and political engagement to return power to the people (People Power).
We must realise we are not the problem - unaccountable authority is, and they have successfully divided us so we think it is our fault.
We need to re-establish "by the people for the people".
Digital platforms allow us to act together and build a coordinated community like never before: one post galvanises thousands, impact-tracking dashboards prove progress, and pooled micro-donations finance better alternative practices.
As a coordinated community aligned behind shared ideas and goals, we can reclaim control.
Without us, authority has no money, and therefore power. Purchase Power (conscious consumption) restores democratic influence, strengthens finances, improves health and curbs the reach of unaccountable corporations and governments.
But we must act together.
We do not have to wait years for the ballot box; we can act daily.
